adventures during the day of the mysterious phone bill
it's been a long and strange day. correction. my days have been strange and long.
i'm right smack in the middle of the madness of renovating my new "old apt." the sheer stress of it all has been sneaking up on me. mainly cos i've so much on my plate.
-house reno
-writing assignments
-golden point (the writing competition) dreams
-triathlon at the end of the month
-keeping my relationships and sense of community alive
i'm transparent like that. so believe me, when i say i've been busy.
last night. i made list of things that i had to do today (buy fridge, buy hood, buy microwave, post letters, set up my wireless and cable account at starhub etc etc etc) So before i slept last night, i decided i had only one place i could go to today to achieve my chores of the day. I had to go to IMM - a mall in the west part of Singapore - to do run all my errands as all the shops i needed were there.
today, i spent 7 hours at IMM. the same amount of time that would take me to fly to Sydney or Tokyo.
it was fruitful. tho strange situtations occured during and post IMM. other than me ahieving most of the tasks on my to do list that is. (ie, new fridge - check, new hood - check.......)
strange situations .....
#1 = the mysterious mobile phone bill:
after spending TWO (2) hours at Starhub talking to people who didn't know what they were talking about - i was close to "setting up my cable & TV account". well.almost.
"ermmm, you have to settle your outstanding bill for an old mobile phone account before we can proceed with your new wireless account," the starhub girl (who conincidentally shares the same name as yours truly) tells me.
"I've never had a starhub mobile phone account in MY WHOLE LIFE." i retorted... starting to get mad.
five minutes later, she returns to confirm that i did have a mobile phone account.
"an oustanding payment of $58.15 in 2001... under the user's name of Kevin Tan." she says.
i say: "oh, that's my brother, i'llpay up and get along with thing new account."
I lied. Kevin's my ex. not brother.
geeeez. $58.15. 2001. what's the message here, peeps?
#2 - bus guide
since my apt renovation is quickly eating into my financial independence - i've been acting strange. in a fiscal way. I had a sudden spasm of my hand this morning. Of all the impulse buys at a shop today - i picked out the bus guide. you see, my main excuse for taking taxis (other than I don't have a driver'slicence) is I don't know the bus routes. SOOOOOOO you can only imagine what the bus guide spasm of my (right) hand can only mean. "take more buses.........."
#3 - i was "flying" at swim training today.
it was insane. madness. epic and of guiness bk record proportions..(okay, drama mama talking)that i was able to swim so fast in the pool today. this evening... i was asked twice, jokingly, what i ate today. But man... i was swimming with endless energy and crazy speed today. i dunno why, really. but something clicked today... while trying to focus on my "dropped right hand problem" i tried swimming in a slightly different way and finally something clicked like two lego pieces finally hugging each other - i finally (kinda) understood what coach was talking about all this while when he said to "GLIDE."
i dunno. the day has been long.
